FHED, INC - Mission

The Humanitarian Foundation for Education and Development (FHED, Inc) is an apolitical Nonprofit Organization, an U.S.-based public charity created to fight worldwide poverty. We have a 501 (c) (3) classification from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - whose mission is to implementing culturally-appropriate humanitarian and integrated development programs that help reduce poverty in the United States of America and abroad. FHED, Inc prides itself on being a source of knowledge and expertise for others grassroots associations and organizations that are already engaged in development. FHED' s staff pursues this mission by addressing key policies issues and bringing the expertise and direct knowledge to the field. Since our establishment in 2000, we have given special attention to rural development by establishing food security in rural Haitian communities, transforming land and lagoons into successful food production sites, and providing educational development training to better the lives of marginalized citizens. Providing for the increasing demands in the areas of education, health care, and sustainable agriculture are some of the challenges that FHED, Inc faces as an NGO.

404 students from Pre-K to 3rd grade have been enrolled during the 2008-2009 school year.

FHED, Inc is holding its second annual Health Awareness Clinic in Carice, Northeast Haiti, from August 16-18, 2009. Cuban and Haitian doctors will be on site to provide free health and dental screenings to the citizens of Carice and surrounding areas. The doctors are in urgent need of medical supplies. We are therefore requesting donations of medical supplies and medications, such as insulin, high blood pressure medicine, Nifedipine, Tylenol, aspirin, Gloves, antibiotic ointment, condoms, etc.
